Description:
Automotive Service Technicians examine, test and repair the parts and systems on cars and light trucks. Automotive Service Technician is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program.
They often use computerized diagnostic equipment to test, adjust and repair key vehicle components such as engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions and electrical systems.
The work of an Automotive Service Technician also involves reassembling and testing repaired items against manufacturers' standards, as well as performing preventative maintenance such as wheel alignments, oil changes and tune-ups.
Automotive Service Technicians also advise customers on the work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements.

Admission Requirements:
Level 1 Registered Apprentice with the Industry Training Authority or proof of successful completion or related Foundation Trades Training program.
Successful completion of Level 1 Apprenticeship Technical Training or successful challenge of Industry Training Authority Level 1 Placement Exam.
Successful completion of Level 2 Apprenticeship Technical Training or successful challenge of Industry Training Authority Level 2 Placement Exam.
Successful completion of Level 3 Apprenticeship Technical Training or successful challenge of Industry Training Authority Level 3 Placement Exam.
Program Length (Weeks): Levels 1 and 3, seven weeks/level; Levels 2 and 4, six weeks/level.

Purchase of textbooks. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, coveralls, etc.)

Once accepted, students are required to pay a non-refundable, non-transferable, non-deferrable deposit to hold a seat in the program.
Students are required to sign and adhere to the Trades & Apprenticeship Safety and Attendance Policy.

Required Minimum Grade: 70%
Residency Requirements: 100% for each level
