The Professional Student

The Student Services staff assists students of the region to attend college, stay in college and make the transition to further education or employment. The Student Services staff can assist students with:

Awards & Financial Aid

Northern Lights College offers several programs to recognize student achievement and to provide financial aid to those who require assistance to meet basic educational costs. Awards based on academic achievement include scholarships, medals and prizes, while those assigned on the basis of financial need include bursaries, loans and work-study. In addition, awards and sponsorship programs administered by agencies external to the college are available to students.

Student Services Counselors and Financial Aid Clerks are available to advise students about loans, bursaries and scholarships. As well the college publishes a booklet "Student Awards and Financial Assistance" which is available at Student Services.

Students' Association

Special interests of students are represented by the Northern Lights College Students' Association which provides social, cultural and recreational events for its membership. The Students' Association is also one vehicle by which students have input into the policy making and administration of the College.

A Students' Association fee (collected at time of registration) is payable in advance as a condition of admission. This fee is non-refundable and is turned over directly to the Students' Association to fund its activities and projects.

Registration

Students may register at any of the College locations. As well it is possible to register over the Internet using PASBC (the post secondary application service of B.C.). Their web site is at: www.pas.bc.ca.

Register early as many programs have waiting lists. You are encouraged to discuss your educational plans with a student services counselor before registering.

Registration for courses is not complete until the semester fees are paid in full.
