HOW TO FIND ARTICLES


These indexes and databases provide access to articles in scholarly journals, magazines, and newspapers. Many of these articles are available full-text online. 

The services are licensed for use only by NLC registered students, faculty and staff. Off campus access will require a login number see: Off campus access

FIND AN INDEX BY SUBJECT: EDUCATION 

  1. Academic Search Premier (1987-) Articles on a range of subjects including sciences, technology, health, humanities and current events.

  2. CBCA Fulltext Education Monographs and journal articles from over 150 Canadian education journals, many fulltext
  3. ERIC 1966-  Education, educational psychology, physical and special education. 
  4. Professional Development Collection includes full text for nearly 520 high quality education journals including: Booklist, Education, Education Digest, Education Week, Educational Leadership, High School Journal, Journal of Education, Journal of Educational Research, Journal of Learning Disabilities, Phi Delta Kappan, Reading Teacher, School Library Journal, and many others. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports.
  5. Middle Search Plus Contains full text for more than 140 popular, middle school magazines. All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for thousands of biographies and historical essays. Additionally, Middle Search Plus contains primary source documents including Essential Documents in American History, reference books including the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia and American Heritage® Dictionary, 4th Edition from Houghton Mifflin, the Encyclopedia of Animals™, and an Image Collection of 293,480 photos, maps and flags.
  6. NoveList K-8 . Hundreds of hand-crafted Recommended Reads reading lists for adults, teens and kids covering both fiction genres and topics. Includes Feature Articles, BookTalks and Curricular Connection articles on a wide variety of genres, topics and reading levels
  7. Primary Search  Primary Search, designed specifically for elementary school libraries, contains full text for more than 72 popular, elementary school magazines. All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for over 100 student pamphlets. Additionally, Primary Search includes the Encyclopedia of Animals, and features Funk & Wagnall's New Encyclopedia.
