These indexes and databases provide access to articles in scholarly journals, magazines, and newspapers. Many of these articles are available full-text online.

  4. Bibliography of Native North Americans  The bibliographic database covers all aspects of native North American culture, history, and life from sixteenth century to the present.
  5. Canada's Early Women Writers  Presents biographical and publication information for more than 470 women who lived in Canada or wrote about Canada, & whose work  was published before 1940.  

  6. Canadian Encyclopedia  A comprehensive and authoritative source of information on all things Canadian.

  7. Canadian Newsstand: (1985-  ) Provides full text access to the articles, columns, editorials and features published in a variety of Canadian newspapers.
  8. Dictionary of Canadian Biography This online dictionary, from the National Archives of Canada, presents persons who died between 1000 and 1920 or whose last known date of activity falls within these years.
  9. Early Canadiana Online: Canada in the Making. ECO is a fulltext collection of >3,000 books and pamphlets documenting Canadian history from the first European contact to the late 19th century.

  10. Encyclopedia of British Columbia  A comprehensive online reference source for BC-related information, containing more than 4,000 articles plus hundreds of sound files, images, maps, charts and graphs.

     
  11. Encyclopedia of Canada's Peoples This encylopedia provides an overview of people within the geographical and social framework of Canada. Each group entry outlines origins; migration; arrival and settlement; economic life; community life; family and kinship; culture; education; religion; politics; intergroup relations; group maintenance and ethnic commitment; and bibliography.
  12. Historical Map Society of BC This is a database of all historical maps covering the area of what is now British Columbia up to joining Confederation in 1871.
  13. Oxford Reference Online   A collection of 30 reference e-books and dictionaries on history by Oxford U. Press.
  14. West Beyond the West Digital images, text, audio and video materials about British Columbia history, heritage and culture.
