Course Content:

Learning Outcomes:
Calculators should be used to check calculations, not perform them.

Upon successful completion of this course, learner will be able to:

-interpret decimal fractions as part of a whole
-identify place value to ten-thousandths
-read, write, compare, and round decimal fractions
-add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimal fractions
-rename fractions, both common and improper
-convert fractions to equivalent fractions
-add, subtract, multiply, and divide common fractions and mixed numbers
-simplify fractions
-compare fractions and/or mixed numbers in order of value
-convert decimals and common fractions from one notation to another
-calculate the average of a group of common fractions or decimal fractions
-write ratios and proportions
-solve a proportion for a missing term
-determine if a proportion is true
-express the relationship between two numbers as a per cent
-recognize percent notation as a denominator of 100
-convert percents, common fractions, and decimal fractions from one notation to another
-calculate percents of less than 1%, 16 2/3%, 33 1/3%, 66 2/3%, and 83 1/3%
-find the percent of a number
-find what percent one number is of another
-find a number when the percent is given
-calculate percentage increases and decreases; markups and markdowns; commissions and tips
-solve decimal fraction, common fraction, and percent word problems
-estimate answers to calculations
-distinguish between a reasonable and an unreasonable estimation
