What a success! This year, for the first time ever, the Northern Lights College Foundation held a 50/50 draw and a lottery at the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede. They raised an impressive total jackpot of $147,305, to be split between the Foundation and the winners. The largest prize was on Saturday where a lucky winner walked away with $25,530.
While most of the prizes have been claimed, the winning 50/50 numbers for Wednesday and Thursday remain unclaimed. As per BCLC regulations, the funds will be held for a year, after which any unclaimed prizes will revert to the Foundation.
Kayla Von Bargen, NLC Foundation Communication & Events Specialist and Foundation Clerk, was grateful their hard work paid off.
“The weekend was hot and busy, but this was such a success. With these funds, we (the Foundation) can assist more students on their lifelong journey of learning. We are so grateful to everyone who purchased tickets and supported us and the students this weekend.”
The Foundation expressed their gratitude to the DC Exhibition for hosting them at the fair. They also extended a heartfelt thanks to the many non-profit organizations that volunteered their time to support the Foundation during the event
Meanwhile, over at the Dawson Creek Co-op, the NLC Foundation’s board of directors participated in the Race Against Hunger, earning the judge’s choice award for their “cereal killer” costumes. The Dawson Creek Campus also successfully filled an entire bin with food for the food bank in the week leading up to the event.
