AMT students awarded Duane Sunderman and Erich Lehmann Memorial Awards

The NLC Foundation was on hand to award two Aircraft Maintenance Technician students with the Duane Sunderman Memorial Award and the Erich Lehmann Memorial Award on October 28.

Billie-Jo Crandall, Duane’s wife at the time of his passing, awarded Tully Swan the Duane Sunderman Memorial Award. This award goes to a student who has a personal interest in working on helicopters and shows promise through both practical and theoretical work. Duane was a graduate of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program and exemplified excellence in everything he did.

Bonnie Lehmann, Erich’s mother, awarded Ariel Paulino the Erich Lehmann Memorial Award. This award goes to a student who has demonstrated high achievement in the practical skills of AMT and a dedication to safety and professionalism in the workplace. Erich received first prize in Northern BC for a science fair project that demonstrated lift coefficients of various wing designs. His dream had been to have a career in the helicopter field.
