Donation Makes Food Security EZ-er

On , In College News

Mere hours after announcing that NLC would be selling EZ Eats and EZ Bites again, a community member stepped up to purchase six of each size of the bags to donate to students who need them.

Sarah Trobacher, of Northlink Safety Training and Services in Dawson Creek, saw the announcement on Facebook, thought that they were a great idea, and wanted to help our students. She contacted Linda Mueller, Director of Ancillary Services at NLC, and told her she would like to purchase some of the food bags for our students. Linda was excited and thought that meant four or so. Imagine her surprise when Sarah purchased a dozen!

“… [It’s a] Great program! Community needs to support community,” said Trobacher.

Thank you, Sarah, we couldn’t have said it better!

EZ Eats is a joint program by Dawson Co-op Food Store and NLC Bookstores to support student food security. After NLC polled students about which staples would be most useful to them, Co-op put together two sizes of bag — EZ Eats ($25) and EZ Bites ($15) *. These bags are sold to NLC Bookstores at cost, to be sold at cost — passing on the savings to the students.

“Such a beautiful and kind gift,” said Mueller.
