Governor General’s Bronze Medal awarded

Faith BeattyFORT ST. JOHN – Faith Beatty, a Social Services Worker Diploma student at the Fort St. John Campus of Northern Lights College, is the 2011 recipient of the Governor General’s Bronze Medal.

The medal was presented by NLC Registrar Anna Hughes at Convocation ceremonies held on June 10 at the Stonebridge Hotel in Fort St. John.

Beatty started in the SSWD program in 2009, and achieved a high level of academic excellence in all her course work, finishing with a 4.1 grade point average. Beatty currently is employed in the social service field, with future plans that include completing a Bachelor degree in Social Work.

The Governor General’s Bronze Medal is awarded for academic excellence to the Northern Lights College student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma-level, post-secondary program (minimum two-year, full-time duration). The award is provided by His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
