When teachers join forces, great things happen.
On December 6, 2024, we had the honour of celebrating the graduation of the Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE) and Professional Linking Program (PLP) students. Yesterday, they were students; today they’re teachers!
AHCOTE, established in 1987, is a partnership with Northern Lights College, Simon Fraser University, and our regional school districts to teach teachers. This program has existed for more than thirty years and has seen hundreds of graduates move into promising careers in education.
AHCOTE was designed specifically for students interested in teaching and living in northern British Columbia, however, the B.C. Ministry of Education teaching certificate enables students to pursue a career anywhere in the province.
