New award bursary to benefit Trades and Apprenticeships students

On , In College News

The award is being established by the Tremblay family upon Rene Tremblay’s retirement as NLC’s Dean of Trades and Apprenticeships to honour his work and dedication to the trades industry. The NLC Foundation is currently accepting donations for this award, and will match all donations.

“The years I spent at the College were some of the most rewarding of my career,” said Rene Tremblay. “I hope this award can help a number of students to get through their programs successfully.”

NLC industry partners couldn’t agree more.

“We are happy to see Rene’s leadership and passion for the trades recognized by the creation of the Rene Tremblay Award. Support of this award aligns with Progress Energy’s Community Investment commitment to support education,” said Julie Bourdon, Progress Energy stakeholder advisor.

Donna Kane, executive director of the NLC Foundation, said the creation of annual awards is so helpful to students because they occur in perpetuity.

“This award will have an application deadline of January 25th as with our other regular awards that are awarded at the end of a program,” said Kane, “The Rene Tremblay Award will motivate students to do well academically, and assist them with any financial challenges they have faced during their studies.”

Student awards are administered by the NLC Foundation. Visit the NLC Foundation online for more information or contact Donna Kane at 250-784-7613 or email dkane@nlc.bc.ca.  To apply for the Rene Tremblay Award or other awards, contact the financial aid officer at any NLC campus.
