REGION – Kyla Traichevich’s image “Settling the Peace” has been chosen for this year’s NLC appreciation/thank you card artwork. Kyla, one of NLC’s Campus Clerks on the Dawson Creek campus, submitted a photo taken at sunset located of the rimrocks in the Bear Mountain Wind Park near Dawson Creek, BC.
“Growing up in Northern BC I have seen a lot of changes.” said Traichevich. “The Windmills in the Bear Mountain Wind Park being a big change. I go quite often to capture the changes from this view – on clear days you can see so far.”
Kyla has been photographing landscapes and nature since the age of 14 starting with a Nikon CoolPixA100 and recently with a CoolPixB500 she received on her 16th birthday. She took this photo during fall, which is her favourite season.
“I love the colours and smells of the season.” said Kyla. “I called it “Settling the Peace” because looking at this photo I feel settled and at home. It makes me think of all the changes and how far the Peace Region has come.”
Kyla received an I❤️NLC hoodie for her submission. Her winning photo will be seen by many recipients of these appreciation cards, locally and internationally.
Congratulations Kyla!
