NLC Instructor receives NENAS’ Continued Success Award

On , In College News

Northern Lights College’s (NLC) own Beatrice (Bea) Harris was recently acknowledged for her unwavering dedication to post-secondary studies and commitment to her education and careers goals recently.

As the recipient of the Northeast Native Advancing Society (NENAS) Continued Success Award, Bea is honoured to have been chosen for the award. “It was an absolute honour to receive this award,” says Bea. “I was quite shocked! But it was an honour.”

This award is given to an Indigenous individual who has completed advanced education and demonstrates resilience in overcoming life’s challenges. With the generous support of NENAS’ sponsorship, Bea was able to pursue her master’s degree in social work through Dalhousie University in 2022, which led her to her role with NLC as a Social Services Worker instructor.

NENAS presented this award to Bea on October 5, 2023, to recognize her hard work and dedication, as well as her commitment to sharing her knowledge and giving back to the communities she’s part of.

Congratulations, Bea! We’re proud to have you as part of our Northern Lights College community.
