Northern Lights College’s simulated wellsite training facility has a new piece of equipment, thanks to a generous donation from a Fort St. John resident.
Art Jarvis, who has worked in oil and gas for many years and is an advocate for the industry, has donated a portable gas separator to NLC.
“Either I could turn it back to the patch and make some money with it, or I could do something worthwhile like this and give it to somebody that’s going to teach a lot of people in the future,” he said as the separator was being unloaded.
He also noted how great it is that a facility like the simulated wellsite was built in Fort St. John so it can continue to train and support the industry.
Elenore Vokes, instructor for the Oil and Gas Field Operator program at NLC, was pleased that her future students would have another important training opportunity with the gas separator.
“The more experience they get on more equipment, the more familiar they become with it, and the benefit is huge,” she said, adding that it not only benefits the students, but the industry as well.
