Northern Lights College (NLC) is pleased to announce we have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Fort St John Huskies Junior B hockey team. This partnership aims to increase enrolment at NLC and financially support the athletes with scholarships and bursaries.
“We’re excited to open up this opportunity for players with the Fort St. John Huskies,” says NLC President and CEO, Todd Bondaroff. “We want to do whatever we can to encourage these players to not only come to our region to play hockey but provide the opportunity for them to study local and stay local.”
As part of the MOU, the Northern Lights College Foundation is allocating a one-time financial contribution of $2,500 to start the Huskies Award Fund for future Huskies players that become NLC students.
“We’re thrilled to establish this partnership with the Fort St. John Huskies. It provides a great opportunity for our College and Foundation to support students who wish to join our community, play for the Huskies, and further their education,” says Lindsey Borek, executive director of the Northern Lights College Foundation. “One of the key goals at our Foundation is to enhance student access and opportunities, and collaborations like this help us guide our students on their educational journeys. We’re incredibly grateful for this chance and are eager to see how it develops over time.”
