NLC students receive more than $40,000 in entrance awards

DAWSON CREEK – More than 30 Northern Lights College students have benefitted from the generosity of donor support as recipients of entrance awards administered by the Northern Lights College Foundation. The students are all enrolled in programs that started in September.

Award recipients include:

  • NLC Foundation Award of Excellence ($3,000 each): Chenyl Graff (University Arts and Sciences, Dawson Creek Campus) and Allaura Lovell (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John Campus).
  • NLC Foundation Entrance Award ($1,000 each): Binu Baby (Millwright Foundation, Dawson Creek Campus), Saikat Banerjee (Power Engineering, Fort St. John Campus), Natalia Elnamer (Social Services Worker Diploma, Dawson Creek Campus), Lisa Jewell (Social Services Worker Diploma, Fort St. John Campus), Brittany Lequiere (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John Campus), Amanda McLeod (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John Campus), Sarah Merlin (University Arts and Sciences, Dawson Creek Campus), Megan Sheppard (Business Management, Fort Nelson Campus), Darlene Thomas (Business Management, Fort St. John Campus), and Zhila Moslehian (Education Assistant, Fort St. John Campus).
  • Paul Dampier Career and College Preparation Entrance Award ($1,000 each): Pamela Bennett (Dawson Creek Campus), Tracie Christenson (Dawson Creek Campus), and Janine Napoleon (Chetwynd Campus).
  • Shell Canada Entrance Award ($2,000 each): Dorian Beattie, Alexander Gauvreau, Brittney McMaster, and Brittney Power (all students in Power Engineering, Fort St. John Campus).
  • Bonavista Energy Corporation New Student Award ($500): Cormac Gaughan (Oil and Gas Field Operations, Fort St. John Campus).
  • Canbriam Energy Aboriginal New Student Award ($1,000): Jocelyn McDonald (Oil and Gas Field Operations, Fort St. John Campus).
  • Encana Aboriginal Student Award ($1,000 each): Melvin Cardinal (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John), Timothy Hans (Welding, Dawson Creek Campus), Diane Horseman (Applied Business Technology, Dawson Creek Campus), Megan Seymour (Applied Business Technology, Dawson Creek Campus), Annette Tough (Social Services Worker Diploma, Dawson Creek Campus), and Maranda Tsakoza (Career and College Preparation, Fort Nelson Campus).
  • Petroleum Services Association of Canada Award ($1,500 each): Kyle Laursen (Welding, Dawson Creek Campus) and Austen Thompson (Heavy Duty Technician, Dawson Creek Campus).
  • Talisman Aboriginal New Student Award ($1,250 each): April Davis (Social Services Worker Diploma, Fort St. John), Samantha Davis (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John), Brittany Lequiere (University Arts and Sciences, Fort St. John), and Jessica Whitford (Applied Business Technology, Dawson Creek Campus).
  • Talisman Visual Arts Entrance Award – Aboriginal ($1,000): Alexandra Sollboeck-Kiyawasew (Dawson Creek Campus).
