NLC students receive Talisman Aboriginal Entrance awards

On , In College News

DAWSON CREEK – Several Northern Lights College students are the recipients of Talisman Aboriginal Entrance awards.

The 2010 award recipients are: Brian Acko (Doig River First Nation) and Jordie Acko (Doig River First Nation), students in the Camp Cook/Cook 1 program at the Dawson Creek Campus; and Kole Norris (Saulteau First Nation, Moberly Lake), a Power Engineering and Gas Processing student at the Fort St. John Campus.

Each year, Talisman provides awards of $1,250 each to four Aboriginal students who are enrolled in full-time studies in any program at NLC. Preference is given to Aboriginal students from northeastern British Columbia, and applicants need to write a short essay indicating how the award will benefit their educational goals.

Student awards are administered by the NLC Foundation. For more information on the NLC Foundation, check the NLC website at nlc.bc.ca or contact Donna Kane at 250-784-7613 or email dkane@nlc.bc.ca.
