After months of planning, Northern Lights College Foundation is excited to announce the launch of our first-ever Giving Day campaign on Friday, November 1, leading up to NLC’s Giving Day on December 3!

NLC’s Giving Day lands on Giving Tuesday, which is an annual global movement encouraging people to give back to their communities and support nonprofits. Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to donate time, resources, or money to causes you care about. This year, Northern Lights College Foundation is looking to raise money for the College’s student support, ensuring every student has the resources they need to thrive both academically and personally at NLC.

This initiative spans all our campuses; Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Fort Nelson, Atlin, Dease Lake and Tumbler Ridge. We are starting our first year off with a goal of $10,000. We are excited to provide this assistance for our students and look forward to it growing year over year.

“Your contributions will directly fund initiatives that promote food security, mental health, physical fitness, and overall well-being, along with monetary awards,” says Lisa Ward, NLC Foundation Chair. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our students’ lives! Let’s all help uplift the future.”

Kayla Von Bargen, NLC Foundation Communication and Events Specialist, knows what these donations will mean to our students.

“After speaking with our students, we know many are hoping for assistance with food security, as well as maintaining their physical wellbeing. Staying active is crucial for our mental and physical health and we look forward to supporting them with this and helping our students in many ways on their educational journey. We want students to know that we are here to help them during their time at NLC, and I am thrilled to be a part of this campaign, knowing how much we can potentially help them!”

The campaign runs until December 3, which is the official Giving Day. There are many ways for everyone to get involved and to participate throughout the month: buy 50/50 tickets (starting November 4), ordering Giving Day Goodie Boxes filled with treats made by our culinary students, or even donating directly to our Giving Day Initiative on CanadaHelps.  Every contribution makes a real impact.
