The Workforce Training Department at the Fort St. John Campus of Northern Lights College is offering a unique weekend course for anyone interested in learning how to rock climb.
The goal of the course, which will be offered Aug. 16-18, is to provide hands-on instruction and practice in the fundamental core climbing skills for the beginning or aspiring rock climber. Students will finish the course with a solid foundation of climbing techniques, and an appreciation and understanding of the larger issues involved in climbing:
- the environment,
- climbing ethics,
- access,
- the grading system,
- potential objective dangers, and
- the correct use of climbing equipment (climbing harness, rope controllers/belay devices, ropes, carabineers, protection and sling).

Friday, Aug. 16 @ Fort St. John Campus, 6-9 pm
Saturday, Aug. 17 @ Fort St. John Campus, 9 am-12 noon
Sunday, Aug. 18 @ Climb Location (west of Chetwynd), 9 am-4 pm
