Vermillion Energy donates $10,000 for new bursary

The NLC Foundation is pleased to announce the new Vermillion Energy Bursary. Clarence MalBeuf was on campus on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, to present a cheque to The Foundation for $10,000, which will be broken down into four awards of $2,500 available to students in the following fields:

  • Electrical Foundation
  • Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation
  • Millwright Foundation
  • Pipefitting Trades Foundation

Vermillion Energy made their first donation in 2022 for the NLC Rodeo and donated again in 2023. With additional donations to the South Peace Child Development Centre, they are supporting our students all through their education journey.

Clarence says giving back to the communities they serve is a pillar of the company. It also gives local students the skills they need to be successful in the industry.

“The company has been around for 30 years, and it’s a global company, but it’s Canadian,” said Clarence. “And I think it’s a great opportunity to get young kids that are local, that might not necessarily want to leave the area, have an opportunity to build a career in our industry.”

He said a similar bursary was created for Slave Lake college and has had many successful graduates find long-term careers with their company.

To qualify for this award, students must be enrolled in one of the listed programs and demonstrate financial need for the award. To apply, head over to https://nlc.awardspring.ca/ and complete your application before January 25, 2025.
