Through analysis of a current public health program, the students will examine the effectiveness of current Canadian health programs in minimizing illness in local communities. This will lead to an analysis of how the common illnesses and conditions in the general population can be minimized and managed through community programs and equal and ready access to resources. Topics will focus on a number of distinct areas where impacts on health can be managed including communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental health, First Nations health, food and nutrition, health and the elderly, mental health, and occupational health.
