This course will introduce students to mental health issues experienced by children and adolescents, outlining various mental health disorders, diagnostic tools, and current interventions. The focus of the course will include exploration of mental health literacy, stigma, trauma informed practice, and classroom support strategies for children and adolescents with mental health issues.
Restrictions: Must be in the Education Assistant or Human Service program (EDAS1, EDAS2, EDAS...X60, HSPD1)
Other Prerequisites: Criminal Record Check Schedule B works with "children" or works with "children and vulnerable adults." Admission to the Education Assistant Program or Human Services Advanced Professional Development Program.
